NDSU students give thanks

NDSU students are grateful for friends they’ve made on campus and the time they get to spend with their families around the holidays.

Before they headed off for Thanksgiving break, a few students told us what they’re most thankful for this year. Read below to learn about their favorite NDSU professors, Thanksgiving foods and people in their lives.

NAME: Sarah Nistler
YEAR: Sophomore
MAJOR: Mechanical engineering
HOMETOWN: Maple Grove, Minnesota

What are you thankful for?
Mainly all the people in my life. My boyfriend, Luke, and then my family and all my friends.

What’s your favorite Thanksgiving dish?
I personally have a really bad sweet tooth, so I would say apple or pumpkin pie.

What Thanksgiving Day activity do you enjoy the most?
I’d just say, chill with the family is the main thing. I go to Luke’s grandparents and they watch football all day, so that too.

What professor or staff member would you like to give thanks to?
My physics professor, Mila Kryjevskaia, because she’s an amazing teacher.

NAME: Hannah Baum
YEAR: Sophomore
MAJOR: Music education
HOMETOWN: Farmington, Minnesota

What are you thankful for?
I’m thankful for all the amazing friends I’ve made at NDSU.

What’s your favorite Thanksgiving dish?
My mom always makes green bean casserole. People always hate it, but I like it.

What Thanksgiving Day activity do you enjoy the most?
I really like watching football with my dad.

What professor or staff member would you like to give thanks to?
I’ll give thanks to Jeremy Brekke, my trumpet professor. I’m a sophomore this year, so I’ve gotten to know him since last year. He’s been a role model because he’s like the trumpet player that I want to be when I’m at that point.

NAME: Diego Price
YEAR: Sophomore
MAJOR: English
HOMETOWN: Bloomington, Minnesota

What are you thankful for?
I’m thankful for my family, of course. I’m very excited to see them soon. As well as the lovely friends that I’ve made both throughout my life and here on campus. And just all of the opportunities that I’ve gotten throughout my life.

What’s your favorite Thanksgiving dish?
For me, it’s some kind of casserole, whether it’s a green bean casserole or tater tot. Those are both really good. My dad also makes a really good turkey soup.

What Thanksgiving Day activity do you enjoy the most?
The post-food nap hits really hard, that’s really good. And I think just being with the family and chilling out. I’m usually happy doing whatever because I’m with them.

What professor or staff member would you like to give thanks to?
I’m thankful for Adam Goldwyn. He’s been an excellent mentor, and has provided both a lot of insight and advice for both my academic career now, and moving forward.

NAME: Trinity Erickson
YEAR: Sophomore
MAJOR: Agricultural economics
HOMETOWN: Climax, Minnesota

What are you thankful for?
I’m thankful for family, goats and good health.

What’s your favorite Thanksgiving dish?
I do like lefse. That’s what I’m most looking forward to.

What Thanksgiving Day activity do you enjoy the most?
Just spending time with family and catching up on the year.

What professor or staff member would you like to give thanks to?
I’m thankful for my advisor Jennifer Carney. She’s been very helpful these past few weeks getting signed up for classes.
